Oscar Wilde’s last and greatest play, which he called “a trivial comedy for serious people” chronicles the romantic misadventures of Algernon Moncrieff and Jack Worthing – both of whom must become “Earnest” in order to win the loves of Cecily Cardew and Gwendolyn Fairfax. In addition to the problem of their names, Gwendolyn’s aunt, Lady Bracknell, stands firmly in the way of their pursuits. Crises accumulate – none taken seriously – on the way to an unexpected resolution – and all to the delight of the audience. Join the NGU theatre department for a fast paced night of comedy in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest!
